Ground-Mounted Solar Project
As a personal project, I designed and installed a small ground-mounted solar system to help offset household electricity usage with my old man. The system features 10 solar panels connected to three grid-tie inverters (1000W, 600W, and a 600W micro-inverter) mounted indoors.
The project involved:
- Installing and wiring the inverters and solar panels
- Running both DC and AC cabling safely into the existing electrical system
- Setting up a simple monitoring system to keep track of performance and output
The solar panels produce enough energy to not only power daytime electronics across the house but also generate a surplus. Rather than investing in a battery system, we opted to divert the surplus into heating the water tank.
